My First Answer
the Titanic's Captain [Edward Smith] DIDN'T KNOW or FORGOT the password to make the ICEBERG split into two. Sound's funny but who knows?

the captain should sing, shout OR recite something, a sentence or poetry to make the iceberg split into two. When It split into two, the Titanic will be easily to pass through the path.

That the reason WHY the titanic hit the iceberg, if the Captain remember or know the "password", the iceberg that kill a thousand people will split into two. EVEN THE TITANIC MOVE SO FASTER and IF THE CAPTAIN CAN GIVE THE "PASSWORD", THE MIGHTY ICEBERG WILL SPLIT INTO TWO AND GIVE A PATH TO MAKE THE TITANIC EASILY PASS THROUGH IT.

I don't CARE if the cruise NO NEED to have the emergency brake. this is my answer. HAHAHA
Who know what happen on the night, maybe the captain was drunk or don't know to stop the Titanic from directly hit the iceberg. so the emergency brake will be functioning there. HOW?, maybe the others passengers that know about the MIGHTY iceberg and the passengers will go to the emergency brake and pull it. It will stop and the titanic hit the iceberg.
HAHA. ok THAT'S my answer. IF THE TITANIC HAVE A LARGE, SUPER, POWERFUL AND GREATEST emergency brake, The Titanic would not hit the iceberg. HATE the iceberg. hahahah
